The Florida Engineering Education Delivery System (FEEDS) provides access to graduate and undergraduate level engineering courses and programs to individual students anywhere and anytime. FEEDS offers engineering students and professionals with work and family responsibilities the freedom and flexibility to take courses around their busy schedules. It also provides convenience to those who are not within driving distance of an academic institution. FEEDS allows them to continue their professional development, which plays an important role in the growth of high technology industries.
A student taking a course through FEEDS must meet the same requirements as the student on campus and will earn the same credit as if he/she were to attend classes on campus. The student need not be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program in order to take a course. However, a student who intends to seek admission to the program should be aware that no more than six (6) graduate or fifteen (15) undergraduate credits are allowed to be transferred into a program.
Academic Programs
Currently, students can select the necessary courses from via FEEDS to obtain a Master's of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, and Engineering Management. Select undergraduate courses are also offered in Industrial Engineering and Construction Management.
Delivery Modes
FEEDS can deliver courses to students at work and other educational institutions through one of the following three methods:
..... Streaming video over the Internet
..... Fully on-line using Blackboard
FEEDS Studios
FIU currently has four electronic classrooms and TV production rooms housed in the Engineering Center that have the capability of recording live lectures and having them accessible over the Internet, as well as transmitting these courses via two-way videoconferencing.
