CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
  The mission of the CEE is to teach, conduct research and serve the community through professional development and technology transfer. The CEE intends to provide a quality educational opportunity for students that encourages leadership, creativity, achievement, the habit of individual inquiry, and the capacity for lifelong learning. The CEE is committed to providing graduates who improve the quality of life, meet the needs of industry and government, and contribute to the economic competitiveness of Florida and the nation. The CEE strives to attain a level of research and scholarly productivity benefitting a major research university and warranting national and international recognition for excellence.

  The Department's mission is to provide enlightened leadership to the construction industry through its graduates; to increase and to improve the body of working knowledge; and to promote the interdisciplinary transfer of technology. The Department also strives to produce professional construction managers who are informed and participating citizens with a sense of civic duty and responsibility; persons with a sense of dignity whose actions express high moral and ethical standards; and professionals who strive to comprehend the impact of their work on their own intellectual and spiritual life as well as on the society in which they live.

<empty> ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

  The field of electrical and computer engineering remains the most exciting and diversified field of study; a field that continues to permeate all aspects of our society and bring the most positive change to our way of life. The curriculum provides an emphasis toward engineering concepts and designs in the varied and rapidly expanding disciplines within the field of electrical and computer engineering. Students, with the counsel and guidance of faculty, student advisor and graduate coordinator, choose their elective program around their own special interests from a broad range of electives in such fields as: 1) Circuits, Electronics and Electronic Materials; 2) Communications and Electromagnetics; 3) Computer Engineering; 4) Digital Signal Processing and Biomedical Electronics; 5) Power Systems; 6) Solid State Devices; and 7) Systems and Control. These study areas are supported by 12 research centers and laboratories and 9 teaching laboratories. Our faculty continuously seeks funding to advance their research interests, upgrade or create new labs, and provide support for our graduate and undergraduate students.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Florida International University emphasizes a broad range of skills. The program is designed to prepare state-of-the-art engineering graduates to be:

  The Mechanical Engineering Department at Florida International University (FIU) offers a curriculum which is designed to give the student a thorough understanding of the basic laws of science and to simultaneously stimulate and develop creative thinking, a professional attitude, economic judgment and environmental consciousness. The aim is to develop the student's potential to the fullest, to prepare the student for superior performance as a mechanical engineer, and to provide the student with the fundamental principles necessary for pursuing advanced study in the diverse fields of engineering, science and business.
